Ijesa-Isu Ekiti Not Engrossed In Any Crisis Over Monarch’s Selection – IIEDC President, Ibikunle Aderemi

The President of the Ijesa-Isu Ekiti Development Collective, IIEDC, Dr Ibikunle Aderemi has revealed that no part of Ijesa – Isu Ekiti is engrossed in any form of crisis in relation to the selection of a new monarch for the ancient community.

Dr Aderemi stated the above while speaking in his status as the IIEDC President on behalf of the concern citizens of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti through a press release he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Friday.

Putting the records straight, Dr Aderemi described the statement credited to one Elder Omoyele Ajobiewe that the people of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti is currently in crisis over the selection of a new monarch for the town as untrue and fake.

The IIEDC President who is also a respected and prominent leader in the community however clarify that the processes and laid down traditional procedures so far undergone in selecting a new Obanla of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti Kingdom has been very open and transparent.

Aderemi attested that the decision of the agreement earlier reached by the three ruling houses – Akoko, Omotere and Omotoye in May, 2025 were strictly followed and adhered to, with no influence or interference from any politician as claimed by the said Elder Omoyele Ajobiewe who made the allegations.

Dr Aderemi reminded the people of the Ijesa-Isu Ekiti community that members of the three Ruling Houses agreed to revert to the 1957 Chieftaincy declaration that recognizes only three Ruling Houses.

They also agreed that the selection and appointment of the Obanla of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti Kingdom shall be on rotational arrangement after settling out of the court, and asking the government to give approval for the selection process.

The statement further stated that Elder Omoyele Ajobiewe was only crying wolf where there is none because his preferred candidate was not favored by the rotational arrangement.

The group therefore urged the government, the kingmakers and the people of Ijesa-Isu to disregard the outburst of Elder Ajobiewe, adding that it was a plot to distract the government and prolong the selection process, thereby unnecessarily extending the tenure of the Regent.
