An investigative report has revealed how an 100 years old man and seven others were arrested at Iloro Ekiti on the order of the Kabiyesi Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti, Oba Femi Olugbesoye by concerned citizens of the community.

Oba Femi Olugbesoye - treasurenewspaper

According to the investigations conducted by Treasure Newspaper, a 100 years old man by the name, Chief Michael Ogundele, the Oluwo of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom and seven others whose names includes Ayorinde Jimoh, Taiwo Adebayo, Alowolodu Joseph, Ofinni Ezekiel Idowu, Ilesanmi Dele, Ajayi Sunday and Jimoh Saliu were all arrested on Thursday 27th October, 2022 on the orders of the Kabiyesi, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Femi Olugbesoye.

Conversations with some prominent indigenes of Iloro Ekiti, who are deeply concerned about the ugly trends of developments in the town has revealed, and faulted the continuous unpopular action of their Traditional Ruler, Oba Femi Olugbesoye, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti over his neglect to the customs, norms and traditional rites of the town which are expected to be observed regularly in the community for an end in sight to bad occurrences in the community.

Findings made by Treasure Newspaper also revealed that two protests was held by the people of the community against their Traditional Ruler, Oba Femi Olugbesoye; the first one on Sunday, 23rd October, 2022 and the second one on Thursday 27th October, 2022.

Further revelations from Iloro Ekiti people showed that a town hall meeting was held on the 9th of November, 2022 to address the miralds of problems already created by their Kabiyesi, Oba Femi Olugbesoye, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom where the problems were itemized and some solutions profered.

Among the various problems itemized at the town hall meeting includes circumstances surrounding the selection of Oba Femi Olugbesoye as the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom, the role of the Ifa Oracle that was neither observed nor followed; the customs and traditions of the community that have been abandoned and neglected by Oba Femi Olugbesoye; the numerous occurrences of evils that has been happening in the town; the harassment and arrests of innocent Son’s and Daughter’s of Iloro being regularly used the police to haunt as well as the illegal suspension of High Chiefs and other Chiefs of the town and their harassments.

Treasure Newspaper authoritatively gathered that the lists of the High Chiefs already suspended by Oba Femi Olugbesoye includes High Chief Aluko Samuel, the Odofin of Iloro Ekiti; High Chief (Mrs.) Alice Eegunjobi, the Eyebasa of Iloro Ekiti; High Chief Agbaje, the Aro of Iloro Ekiti; High Chief Ayamolowo, the Odoba of Iloro Ekiti; Chief (Mrs.) Ayegbusi Beatrice, the Eyedofin Oke-Owa of Iloro Ekiti and Chief (Mrs.) Okunrinopo Grace, the Eyedofin Idofin of Iloro Ekiti among others.

Treasure Newspaper also gathered that the two different protests which was earlier held in the town by the community people were necessitated by several abominable acts which are alien to the taboos, customs and traditions of the ancient Community.

The community people in the town have also accused Oba Femi Olugbesoye of being behind the destruction of the pavilion erected by the Iloro Progressive Union as contributions from different branches I.P.U inside the Oluloro Palace under the guise to renovate the Palace.

They equally accused the Kabiyesi Oluloro of removing the roofing sheet of a building located in the palace thereby exposing a secret place to sun which they said is considered as an abominable act as well as the stoppage of the Iloro Day Ceremony which is an annual event of the community.

Opinion of the people of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom sought by Treasure Newspaper has it that, the Kabiyesi, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Femi Olugbesoye does not possess the moral rectitude to rule the community since he was imposed on them by the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. They also add that, by his nature, he is naturally an impatient King who lacks the charisma to overseer the affairs of the Community without any encumbrances.

They have however unanimously called on the State Government under the leadership of the present government of Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in Ekiti State to see to the release of those arrested by the King of Iloro Ekiti on trumped up charges.

They questioned how a man of 100 years old can be alleged to have carried gun in an attempt to kill Oba Femi Olugbesoye and rob the palace on the 27th of October, 2022.

Meanwhile, in a swift reaction by the Kabiyesi, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Femi Olugbesoye, said, “court process will soon begin on the matter. He added that, it is an issue between those arrested and the government. You are free to publish whatever you want to publish”, he told our reporter who sought his reaction on the phone.

Also, further findings revealed to Treasure Newspaper on the court issue raised in the reaction of the Kabiyesi, the Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti, Oba Femi Olugbesoye, that, as at the time of filing this report, no court process has started in the matter.

Calls made across to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Abutu Sunday two different times, though picked with a promise to get back with a reaction on the arrests of those arrested at Iloro Ekiti, refused to get back after several hours of waiting all to no avail.
