The attention of well-meaning members of the APC Youth Patriots (AYP), a group in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been drawn to the unfortunate remarks made by Chief Jide Awe, the erstwhile special Adviser to governor OYEBANJI on political matters against the immediate past governor of Ekiti State.

His comments, laced with ingratitude and political mischief, are nothing short of a betrayal to the man who once saved him from humiliation and political extinction.
Let history remind us: when Ayodele Fayose hounded Jide Awe into exile for over three years, it was Dr. Kayode Fayemi who stood firmly by him.
Dr. Fayemi personally took responsibility for Awe’s upkeep, his hotel rent, his security, and every other need that sustained him during his years in hiding.
More than that, it was Fayemi who restored Awe to political relevance, bringing him back from exile upon his return as governor in 2018.

It is therefore shameful, disgraceful, and highly disappointing that the same Jide Awe has now turned himself into Fayose’s mouthpiece, attacking Dr. Fayemi all because of peanuts.
This is the height of political prostitution and betrayal of the hand that once fed him.
Dr. Fayemi’s words at the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Iyin Ekiti were simple and clear: APC remains the dominant political force in Ekiti State, and he reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term bid.

That statement was a reaffirmation of loyalty, not a rejection of inclusiveness. Only a mischievous mind, blinded by selfish gains, would twist it otherwise.
Ekiti people know the truth. They know that the comment made by Dr Kayode Fayemi is to salvage the party which Chief Jide Awe and his cohorts are trying to destroy.
Many party members aligned with Dr Fayemi’s view. There is nothing wrong in bringing people to join our party , but should they be allowed to displace existing members or give them more privileges than party members when obviously they did not decamp officially.

Should they also come to our party meetings and display their logo and campaign. What kind of politics is that.? Dr Fayemi built the political structures that brought the APC to where it is today.
They know who sacrificed his time, energy, and resources to sustain leaders like Jide Awe when Fayose turned them into political refugees.
Chief Jide Awe describing Dr Fayemi’s comment as derogatory is disrespectful to a two term governor, a former minister and a former Chairman of Nigeria’s governors forum .

If Chief Awe has chosen to mortgage his conscience and loyalty to Fayose, that is his cross to carry. But he should never attempt to malign Dr. Kayode Fayemi, a man who rescued him, sustained him, and restored him.
We will not sit idly by and allow political opportunists to rewrite history. Ekiti politics has no space for Judas politics.
Chief Awe’s betrayal may fetch him temporary gratification, but history will remember him for what he is: a man who turned his back on his benefactor for peanuts.

We therefore call on all loyal APC members in Ekiti and beyond to disregard Awe’s unfortunate outburst and rally solidly behind Dr. Kayode Fayemi in his support for Governor Biodun OYEBANJI re-election bid.
The unity of our party is far more important than the selfish ambition of a few disgruntled elements. Together, we will consolidate APC’s dominance and deliver lasting development to Ekiti State.
Dr. Kayode Fayemi remains a pillar of the APC in Ekiti State and Nigeria. No amount of ingratitude, blackmail, or revisionist politics will erase his legacy.
