KDI Exposes 20 Incidences Of Violence Ondo Poll

The KIMPACT Development Initiative, KDI, has exposed 20 different incidences of violence during the Ondo State Governorship Election held on Saturday across the 18 local government areas State information.

Revealing the information to the media on Saturday, during its Mid-Day Election day briefing, the Board Chairperson of the KIMPACT Development Initiative, KDI, Dr Abiola Akiyode Afolabi, flanked by the Team Lead, Mr Bukola Idowu; the Head of Research and Strategy, Mr Oluwafemi John and the Senior Program Officer, Mercy Abiem described the report of the  incidences of violence during the voting /election as a wrong signal. 

Akiyode in the report read by her, carpeted interference of party agents in the election processes. 

She recounted how voting were disrupted in local government areas such as Idanre, Igbaraoke in Ifedore local government area, Akoko Southeast, Akure North and Akoko Southwest among other places. 

She also revealed that, from her observation, that in one of the incidences, a clash occurred between officers of the Nigeria Police Force and that of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in one of the community of the State. 

He went on to urge the security to remain professional in the process of discharging their duties. 

The KIMPACT Development Initiative also stresses the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission to always uphold the rule of law. 

She also appealed to the media on behalf of other parts of her colleague to continue to promote peace and counter every misinformation that can prompt or initiate violence during the election.
