Alade Temitayo also known as Sugartee who hails from Ijan Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State in a telephone interview with the Treasure Newspaper on Sunday morning revealed that his real intention of putting up a Kiss-A-Thon event was to create awareness and attract public attention to himself to promote his own music career and talents in the Country and beyond.
According to him, he said, “in the real sense of it, I never had the intention of doing the Kiss-A-Thon event right from the onset. I only want to use it to attract and draw public attention towards my talent as an Afrobeat Hip-hop Artist. It is all a prank to attract more followers and fans for myself and my music style”, he explained.
Continuing, Sugartee added “We never had plans to do it. No sane person will even kiss for three days. So, all the plans from the onset were just to prank, it was just like paper content. It wasn’t something serious.
“We just wanted to create more awareness to the name and to the public and to our FANS out there. Most especially as an upcoming artist.
“We knew such an event was going to attract serious reactions from both the public and the government. So, we were not surprised that the Ekiti State Government issued a statement to ban us from doing the event.
“Before the stoppage and ban by the Ekiti State government, I have posted the Kiss-A-Thon fliers and details on social media two weeks earlier with no much reactions. But when the officials of government in Ekiti State started issuing one statements or the other warning us not to go ahead with the Kiss-A-Thon event, it was then our profile started rising.

“So, in essence, it was the ban on the organisers of the Kiss-A-Thon event by the Ekiti State government that makes the public know more about Sugartee, and that helped the brand name Sugartee to trend”.
Speaking further, Alade Temitayo, known as Sugartee said he once did an album for the former Governor of Ekiti State, in person of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi but that, it was not reckoned with at the time. He narrated how he praised government officials in the album which was titled “Ijo Ekiti” then including the current Governor of the State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
He listed his other music albums he has been able to produce since he started his music career to include ‘Ire’, ‘Kokanye’, ‘Sweet Poraro’, ‘Sweet Poraro Remix’, ‘Iyanu Asele’, ‘True lover’, and ‘Magic love’.
Findings however revealed that he graduated from the Ondo State Polytechnic (Rufus Giwa Polytechnic) in Owo where he studied Civil Engineering and currently lives in Lagos State.
Also, speaking with his Manager and Promoter, Mr. Adebisi Bamidele, he apologized to the people of Ekiti State about the issue of the Kiss-A-Thon programme. “We want Ekiti people to know that the idea of the Kiss-A-Thon is targeted at making Sugartee become more popular as an artist”.
