Lawyer Writes Ikere Local Government Chairman Over N15 Million Gate Project

A lawyer by name Awa A.T. Durodola has written to the Executive Chairman of Ikere Local Government in Ekiti State, demanding financial and administrative information about the recent refurbishment and commissioning of the Local Government Secretariat’s entrance gate.

The lawyer, representing Mr. Adeolu Oyebode, is seeking documents which includes, breakdown of the contract sum and procurement process, evidence of competitive bidding process, advertisement bids, minute of council approval for the project, letter of award to the contractor and certificate of completion as well as pictures showing “before” and “after” status of the project

Lawyer Durodola, also demanded for financial Reports documents of Audited Financial Report of Ikere Local Government for the last fiscal year, a copy of the approved budget of the Local Government before the “Gate project” was executed and the statement of Account of the Local Government showing Federal Allocation inflows. 

The lawyer has given the Local Government 14 days to comply with the demands, failing which they will approach the court to enforce Mr. Oyebode’s right to valid information about the running of the Local Government.

This development highlights the growing demand for transparency and accountability in governance, particularly at the local government level.
