Low Turnout For House Of Assembly Poll Caused By Lack Of Mobilization -Governor Oyebanji 

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State said the low turnout of electorate at the State House of Assembly Election was not impressive, saying political parties and INEC have not done enough mobilization for the Election.

Oyebanji disclosed this shortly after casting his vote at his Ward 6, Unit 3, Okelele at 12: 30 pm in his country home, Ikogosi-Ekiti, in the Ekiti West Local Government Area of the State.

Comparing the presidential election to the state Assembly, Governor Oyebanji hinted that the turnout is relatively low unlike the impressive turnout recorded during the presidential election in the state.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over it’s improvement on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, (BVAS), saying the system has added credibility to voting in Nigeria. 

According to him, “So far, so good, I just cast my vote and using my Ward as an example on the improvement on INEC technology”. 

“I think we have to commend the Federal Government and more importantly, the INEC for the remarkable improvement on the technology deployed, as well as the entire exercise. The deployment of the new technology will no doubt help to improve on the exercise through management of time and energy,” he said. A lot of factors are responsible. It’s a work in progress. It’s the duty of the INEC and political parties to do something about mobilisation”. 

“Well, it’s not about me as a person but about the political process. We will continue to educate. Well, the feedback is generally peaceful. My desire is that the APC will win in all the House Assembly seats.”
