A man has been remanded in the Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital by the Court of Law for raping and defiling a 13 year old girl.

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday has granted an order to remand one 34 year old Kehinde Akeem in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl in Ado Ekiti.

According to the charge, Kehinde Akeem on the 20th of August, 2022 in Ado Ekiti reasonably suspected to have committed offence of rape on a 13 year old girl, contrary to section 31 (2) of the Child’s Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

Moving his ex-parte application before the court, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sadiq Adeniyi prayed the court to grant the application to remand the defendant at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti, to allow Police complete their investigation and forward the duplicate case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
