Man Sentences To 7 Years Imprisonment For Burglary, Stealing By Ekiti Court

An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has sentenced a 26-year-old Omodara Dada to seven years imprisonment for burglary and stealing.

Dada was arraigned before Justice Lekan Ogunmoye on July 19th, 2022, on a count charge of Armed Robbery, but the court found him guilty of the lesser offence of burglary under section 323 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State.

According to the charge, Dada robbed Fakiyesi Tope of his phone which cost a sum of 64,000 Naira and 8,000 Naira cash while armed with a knife on February 13th, 2022. The victim, an hotel manager, caught Dada trying to remove his Plasma Television and was threatened with a knife.

The prosecutor, Albert Adeyemi, presented three witnesses and several exhibits, including the knife and stolen cash. Dada’s counsel pleaded for mercy, but Justice Ogunmoye sentenced him to seven years imprisonment, effective from his detention date at the Federal Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti .
