The Vice-Chancellor of the University Of Education, Science and Technology, BOUESTI, Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa has commended the recently signed ‘student loan bill’, saying that it will assist students, as most students of the institution are indigents.

The Chancellor revealed this today during an interview with reporters at the school premises after the 2022/2023 Matriculation ceremony.

He said, “The student loan bill is in the right direction. He added that outside the shores of this nation, in the UK, for example, a lot of University students run on loans, which they pay back after their graduation or after they have secured employment. And that will go a long way to assist a lot of students because some of the Institution’s students are indigents.

Although, he said the management has put programmes in place to assist students by employing some of the students as cleaners, gardeners and pay them monthly in order to sustain themselves.”

He also said, “I have a feeling that the President himself, Bola Tinubu before he became President, knows a lot about education, he has made a lot of statement that shows he is going to attend to ASUU, he is going to attend to the issues of the unstable academic calendar in high institutions. I have a feeling that the President we have now knows where the shoe itches, and he is going to do a lot in order to restructure the education system in Nigeria.”

Speaking on the structure of the institutions, the VC said the institution is structured for Entrepreneurship and focuses on ensuring that students are educated so that after graduation, they can be self-employed.

Earlier in his address delivered during the Matriculation Ceremony, the VC appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his support and commitment towards the development of the University

Also, he revealed that not less than 3,490 admission seekers have been enrolled and registered into various programmes at the University.
