New Ekiti CP Expresses Readiness To Curtail Influx Of Criminals

The newly posted Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, CP Joseph Eribo has expressed the readiness of his Command and leadership to curtail any influx of criminals into the State, with a charge to his men to brace up, and tame and arrests any bandits or kidnappers found in the State.

The Police Commissioner, CP Joseph Eribo made the commitment when the leaders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council comprising of the Online Media Chapel, Correspondent Chapel (print) and On Air Chapel (electronics) paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the State Headquarters of the Command located at the Old Iyin Road in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

Welcoming the members of the fourth estate of the realm in his office, CP Joseph Eribo commended the Governor of the State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for putting a lot in place to checkmate the activities of criminals and the people of the under world from gaining access into the State.

The CP in his words said, “the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has done so much by setting up some security outfits to checkmate criminals from infiltrating into the State through its borders or bushes.

He listed some of the efforts of the Ekiti State Governor before his arrival to include the establishments of Agro Rangers, Agro Marshalls as well as that of the Amotekun Corps jointly formed by the Southwest Governors.

Adding, Eribo said, “plans are under way to constitute a small Committee that will encompassed all the security agencies, in form of Task Force, including civilians like the Fulanis and other ethnic groups in the State, in a bid, most importantly, to put an end to the influx of bandits and kidnappers as well as herders / farmers clashes in the State.

Earlier during the visit, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi assured the CP, Mr Joseph Eribo of the cooperation of the Journalists in the State, in giving adequate coverage and publicity to it’s activities in the State.

Comrade Kayode Babatuyi also advised the new Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Joseph Eribo to always carry the Union along in the Command’s activities as done by his predecessor, Mr Adeniran Akinwale who was recently promoted to the rank of an AIG.
