News Alert! Protesters Blocked Ekiti New Cargo Airport Road Over Government’s Failure To Compensate Farmers

Reports reaching the Treasure Newspaper has revealed that some group of protesters majorly farmers whose lands being used for farming businesses were taken over by government are currently protesting the continuous failure on the part of the Ekiti State Government to compensate them. 

The protesters who blocked the Airport Road made the Treasure Newspaper to understand that they are the aggrieved farmers whose lands were taken for the Ekiti Cargo Airport project being currently executed by the Dr. Kayode FAYEMI led government. 

According to our feelers from the scene of the protests, the farmers were said to be numbering to about 100 people.

It was reliably gathered that the protesters used iron bars, tyres and sticks to continue their agitation and press home their demand to draw the attention of Governor Kayode Fayemi to their plight.

They alleged that the Ekiti State Government has cheated them and would not leave the scene until they are  are compensated by the Ekiti State Government. 

The went further to openly accused the Governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of shortchanging them and depriving them of their rights and entitlements.

As early as 7:00 am on Thursday morning, the protesters blocked the Ago Aduloju road leading to the Airport and linking Igbemo, Afao and Ijan Ekiti.

Speaking with one of the aggrieved farmers and protesters, by the name, Mr. Peter Ishola, he said the Airport workers will be prevented from working unless the government addressed their needs.
