The Deputy Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps incharge of Operations, DCG Philip Ayuba has announced a total of 6,464 officers to be deployed across the 18 local government areas of Edo State for the Saturday Governorship Election schedule for tomorrow.

The DCG Operations, Philip Ayuba made the disclosure on Friday at the State Headquarters of the NSCDC Command in Edo State while addressing officers of the Security Agency already deployed from several States to Edo State ahead of the Saturday’s Election.

Ayuba while speaking further during his address, said, “the NSCDC as a security agency in Nigeria is fully ready for tomorrow’s Governorship Election taking place in Edo State. Several of our officers deployed from across some States in the Country are already present here as I speak. We are also in tune with other sisters security agencies to ensure that the election is credible and witnessed no violence or occurrences of destruction of any property across the State.

“Our work and duty is to ensure an absolute peace and enforce sanity throughout the period Edo State electorates would file out to vote tomorrow.

Continuing, the DCG added, “we are fully ready for the election tomorrow and we are poised to make sure no voter is prevented from performing his or her civil rights of voting.

Responding to a question on how battle ready the NSCDC are, in protecting critical infrastructures in Edo State, Ayuba urged the people of Edo State not to worry as enough operatives have also been deployed to do that in addition to the various polling units where NSCDC officers would be on ground to equally safeguard for the conduct of the election to be thorough.

Also, the NSCDC DCG Operations advised those planning to infiltrate the process of the election on Saturday to have a change of mind.
