NSCDC Launches Rapid Response Squad In Ekiti To Combat Crime

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has launched a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Ekiti State to tackle crime and criminality. 

The squad, conceived by the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, is aimed to  swiftly respond to distress calls from the public.

Commandant Toma Matthew Enya, who launched the squad at the NSCDC command headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, charged the specially trained officers to adhere to standard operating procedures and rules of engagement. 

He emphasized the need to protect critical national assets and infrastructures in the State and respect human rights.

The RRS will work in conjunction with the NSCDC’s core mandates, including protecting critical infrastructures, discouraging illegal mining, and supervising private guard companies. The squad will soon introduce rescue system numbers to reduce response time to emergencies.

Commandant Enya however assured the public that the RRS is equipped to deter aggression, combat crimes, conduct rescue operations, and carry out surveillance on critical infrastructure. 

He urged the public to cooperate with the squad to ensure a safer Ekiti State.
