A renowned Australian based medical Doctor from Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State has emerged as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2026 governorship election, promising to extend his love to other co-aspirants that contested with him.
Dr Oluyede while interacting with the media shortly after his emergence as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, thanked his faithful supporters and party leaders who made his victory possible during the contest.
According to him, he dedicated his victory to every member of the People’s Democratic Party, assuring them, that there won’t be any loser, but only partners in progress and champions of democracy.
He hailed the spirit of maturity, competitiveness, sincerity and fairness that characterized the conduct of the primary election. He assured the Ekiti people that a true change is coming, with his victory at the party’s primary election.
“Together, we have demonstrated that internal democracy is alive and thriving in the PDP in Ekiti State.

He also thanked the leadership of his party, the PDP, most especially, the National Chairman, Ambassador Ilya Damagum, for his unwavering support, commitment to fairness and transparency.
He also extend his profound gratitude to the party leaders in the Southwest such and His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde for ensuring a level playing field for all the aspirants.
Oluyede confirmed that the leadership of the PDP has strengthened faith in the democratic process. He also salute his fellow aspirants for their rare display of forthrightness and maturity while the primary election lasted.
“To my fellow aspirants, I salute your courage, your dedication, and your sportsmanship”, Oluyede declares.

Reacting to the outcome of the primary election,.one of the aspirants who came second, Dr Funso Ayeni stated that the outcome of the primary election is an internal affairs of the party.
Ayeni hailed the process that produced Dr Oluwole Oluyede as the candidate of the party, despite that the process was not perfect. “But when a process was not perfect, internal processes would be employed to correct it.
The party Chairman, Rt Olatunji Odeyemi while speaking said the success of the party primary election is traceable to God alone.

He revealed that his target as the party’s Chairman is to hijack power from the ruling party in Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, announcing the Ekiti State PDP governorship primary election results, after the collation, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel and the former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo said, Dr Oluwole Oluyede scored a toral of 279 to emerge as winner.
Dankwambo equally announced Dr Funso Ayeni for second position with the total votes of 239 and Mrs Funmilayo Ogun with 17 votes came distance third.
