The newly elected Chairman for Irepodun local government area of Osun State, Honourable Sarafadeen Awotunde has emerged as the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, in the State of the Living Spring.

The Irepodun local government Chairman, Honourable Sarafadeen Awotunde was on Tuesday elected by his 29 other colleagues which were sworn-in on Sunday by the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Others who were also elected to steer ship of ALGON in Osun State included the Chairman of Ife Central local government area, Honourable Rotimi Adeyenuwo, who was elected as Vice Chairman while the Chairman of Ede South local government area, Alhaji Lukman Afolabi emerged as the ALGON Secretary in Osun State.
Following the elections of the new officers for the Osun State ALGON, they were immediately inaugurated to enable them swing into action, by coordinating the activities of the Association in the State.
Reports made available to Treasure Newspaper on Tuesday night however showed that, the election took place at the Osun State ALGON Secretariat located at the premises of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, State Secretariat, Abere in Osogbo.

While presiding over the first meeting of the Osun State ALGON as Chairman, Honourable Sarafadeen Awotunde, who also doubled as the Chairman of Irepodun local government area, appreciated the path of peace embarked by the State Government under Governor Adeleke and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in the State led by Honourable Sunday Bisi.
He also lauded the local government workers in Osun State for shunning violence, promising them that they will soon be able to safely return to their offices.
