Partner For Peace Seek Ondo NSCDC Support Against Electoral Violence

Partners for Peace has sought the support of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, against violence during the election. 

According to the report made available to newsmen on Wednesday morning, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State NSCDC, he described the Partners for Peace as a network that is dedicated to promoting peace in the Niger Delta States of Nigeria through peace building and sensitization. 

Signing the agreement on Tuesday during the Advocacy Visit by the Partners for Peace to the office of the Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC Command in Akure, he welcomed the group, and appreciated them. We

High Chief Akomolafe, the head of the delegation, informed the Commandant of the mission of the network to carry out voters’ education and campaign against violence in Ondo State’ in the southern Senatorial district of the state.

The intervention is designed to educate and sensitise voters on the new electoral processes and procedures and also to address the issue of voter’s apathy.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, in his response, said electoral violence is a major concern for security agencies. Killings and wanton destruction of properties are issues during the electioneering process, and security agencies are ready to partner with stakeholders to mitigate against such criminal acts during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

‘What we want is a free, fair, and violence-free election. Indicators and feelers here in Ondo State are comforting, but we are not resting on our oars.

” We will give you a hundred percent support, our Gender and Antihuman Trafficking and Irregular Migration units, will be part of your town hall sensitization programmes,” Ibiloye said.
