Police Arrests Woman Who Kidnapped New Born Baby In Ekiti Hospital

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a middle aged woman, Deborah Ayeni involved in the kidnap of a new born baby in one of the government owned hospitals in the State. 

The said suspected kidnapper, Deborah Ayeni was arrested after a painstaking investigation conducted cum a credible tip-off information given by a member of the public regarding the perpetrator who carried out the stealing of the said new born baby in question on the 4th of August, 2035 in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital. 

Parading the woman suspect on Wednesday, 6th of August, 2025, at the Police Headquarters in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State; Deborah Ayeni confessed  committing the crime, shortly after the new born baby was recovered from her.

According to the Ekiti Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, explained, “investigation revealed that the suspect has been going about with a fake pregnancy, and has been lying to the husband who stays in the UK that she was pregnant.

“She confessed that her decision to look for a child to steal was to cover up her lies about the fake pregnancy, since she has already collected a lot of money from the husband.

“The recovered child has been handed over to the parents, while the suspect will be further investigated and prosecuted accordingly.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP JOSEPH ERIBO, while calling on everyone to be security conscious all round and at all times, implores citizens to continue to support and cooperate with the Police by supplying credible and timely information that can lead to the arrest of criminal elements in the society.
