The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Akinwale Adeniran has received the Police athlete contingents who participated in the 14th Biennial Police Games which tool place in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, hailing them for their good outing.

CP Akinwale Adeniran organised a reception ceremony to honour officers and men of the command who participated in the just concluded 14th Biennial Police Games tagged: “Oluyole 2024”.
Adeniran in his message at the occasion, said the welcome programme was to encourage and motivate the Athletes and discover more talents among them.
He reiterated his determination to continue in encouraging the officers and men of the command, urging them to continue by putting in their best in their various duties.
The Commissioner promised to upgrade the Officers Mess by organizing various activities that will make them happy all the times. He appreciated and promised to continue to identify with them.

Also, addressing the police athletes, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Administration, Mr Ayodeji Abimbola, commended the athletes for being good ambassadors of the command and that of Zone 17 of Nigeria Police by making the command proud of their performances.
The Senior Police Officers charged the Athletes to try more in the next edition of the competition by wining more medals, while felicitating with the Athletes, the police boss equally thanked them for making the command proud.
Unveiling the Athletes and reeling out their achievements during the competition, the officer in charge of sport in the command, Mr Adewale Idowu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said “the team held shoulder with their counterparts in Ondo State thereby making the zone proud.
He disclosed that the team won a total of 22 gold, 35 silver and 36 bronze medals placing the command in 6th position at the final medal table.

The officer explained that the team equally have two Premier League badge referees and National Athletes, in boxing, table tennis, handball, athletics badminton as well as cycling among others.
In his goodwill message at the occasion, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, congratulated the Athletes for the numerous success and achievements recorded by the command in recent time
The Ekiti NUJ Chairman charged them to keep the flag of the command flying by winning more laurels during the next edition of the competition.

The highpoint of the ceremony held at the Officers Mess, Ado-Ekiti, was the unveiling and presentation of gift to the the Commissioner by the leader of the Athletes.
