Nigerians especially Youths, have been called upon to accept various measures and palliatives of the Federal Government in its resolve to assuage them to shelve the planned national protest scheduled to commence on August 1, 2024.

The Protest, if not suspended may further plunge the Country into an unbearable, unavoidable and irrevocable Economic crisis capable of destroying already fragile economy of the Country to become a moribund one.

A Lawmaker representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole gave the submission in a Statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

Hon. Kolawole who agreed that, Nigerians irrespective of political or religious affiliations deserve more sacrifices from their Leaders now than ever before argue that, many problems facing Nigerians can still be resolved without any protest or confrontation but rather through other peaceful means.

The current economic crisis in Nigeria as it is  also applicable to some other parts of the World could undoubtedly be addressed through patience, understanding and cooperation of the Citizens with the Government.

The Tinubu led administration has been working hard to ease the burdens of all Nigerians especially through various palliatives to cushion the effects of subsidy removal which had been a major cackerworm meeking the nation economy in the past.

He commended President Tinubu for giving approval for the distribution of Trucks of Rice, Grains, Fertilisers and other food stuff for the Poor Nigerians, hence the need  to reciprocate the gesture through cancellation of the planned protest in the interest of the Nation.

Therefore, it is high time Nigerians began to appreciate and pray for the success of their Leaders especially president Tinubu to lead the Country alright for the benefit of all the Citizenry and unborn generations. It is axiomatic and unparalleled fact that, the current economic situation in Nigeria was not the making of the present leadership but rather than the lack of political will by some former Nigerian Leaders to do the needful inorder to place the Country on the path of economic recovery and progress.

The yearnings and expectations of Nigerians from President Tinubu to turn around all aspects of the Country’s Economy are not unexpected because of the trust they have in his ability as a Democrat, reputable Administrator and versatile Accountant who had created a niche for himself at the private sector before he joined politics but, the fact remains that, “Rome is not built in a day”, hence the need to join hands with the President and other Nigerian Leaders to develop the Country.

Hon. Kolawole saluted the courage of Nigerians to press home their demands from the Government saying, the latest agitation for an improved governance has shown that, Nigerians are capable of fighting for their right without engaging any external force that may want to leverage on their support to truncate Democratic system in the Country.

He charged the People to take advantage of the latest approval of additional 10 Trucks of Rice by the Federal Government to each State of the Federation at designated Centres across the country where 50kg bag of the Rice will be sold to every Nigerian at a subsidised price of 40,000 Naira.

According to him, the latest gesture will be in addition to 20 trucks of Rice  given to each state by the President recently for onward distribution to the poor People in the Society.

The Federal Lawmaker however called on government officials who will be handling both the free distribution and sales at almost 50% discount of the Rice to People to be transparent and fair to all.

He assured the People that, Nigerian Legislators as their Representatives will also collaborate with the Governors to ensure thorough supervision of the distribution process to the People and commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State for being exceptional, unique and unbiased at distributing such Federal gestures to the People in the past at all times.
