Rivers Crisis: Governor Fubara Approves Emergency Annual Leave For Judges, Judiciary Staff

The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has approved an emergency annual leave for the Judges and Judiciary Staff in the State starting from July to September. 

Conveying the decision of Governor to the people of Rivers State on Tuesday, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Honourable Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi in a circular dated 30th May, 2024 and reference number RS/JUD/CJ/HVAC/VOL 1/2/24 on the subject matter titled ‘2024 Annual Vacation’ he personally signed and sent to all the Judges in the State, “directed the Judges of the High Court of Rivers State, in pursuant to order 49 rule 4(d) of the High Court of Rivers State Civil Procedure Rules, 2023 to proceed on annual vacation from Monday, 22nd July to Tuesday 17th September, 2024”. 

The Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi also mandated all the judicial divisions of the High Court of Rivers State to remain closed during the vacation till when normal Court sitting will resumption on Wednesday 18th or September, 2024.

Adding, the Chief Judge stated further that, “any urgent matters filed during the vacation will be attended to by any of the judges to be assigned for such as vacation judge by him”, he submitted.
