The Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ondo State, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola has said that the sensitive materials to be used for the Ondo State Governorship Election are ready for distribution today (Thursday).
Babalola dropped the hint when she led Heads of Security Agencies, Accredited Observer Groups, members of the Inter – Party Advisory Council, IPAC in Ondo State and journalists to inspect the ballot papers to be used for the election proper on Saturday, November 16th at the fault section of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Akure, Ondo State.
Responding to questions after the inspection, Babalola said, “the sensitive election materials like ballot papers and other items have been inspected by all the critical stakeholders such as political parties, security agencies, and observers for the purpose of transparency. They have seen all the sensitive materials as they were received. You could see they are still on the pallet. They are well wrapped and sealed. Nobody has tampered with them. When we come for the distribution, we would open them up local government by local government and give to the electoral officers.
Continuing, she said, “the distribution will start with the farthest local government areas by 10:00am today Thursday so that they can get there on time to enable the materials be moved to the Registrations Area Centres, RAC’s and then to the polling units”.
