The Southwest leadership of the Asiwaju Support Group under the All Progressives Congress, APC, has visited Ekiti State, seeking support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the citizens of the Fountain of Knowledge.

The Chief Host for the meeting, Engineer Kayode Ojo, who was represented by Honourable Oladipupo Ogunkoyode, expressed the readiness of his Principal to continue to support Asiwaju Tinubu in his efforts to turn things around positively in the country, and by extension, the State through the Governor; and also guide against any form of mal-administration which may make peace elude the society.

He explained that the target of the Support Group Leaders is to regroup, to enable them revamp and restructure the Southwest politically so that everybody will be working as indivisible family. “It is an avenue for the people who have worked tirelessly in the Support Groups during campaigns for the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the poll to be offered appointment, positions in Boards and Parastatals of the Federal government”.

Ogunkoyode added that the meeting was to afford those who have worked for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emergence in the different Support Groups in the Southwest to be remembered and considered for political appointments.

Speaking further, Ogunkoyode commended the Chief Host of the Summit for deeming it fit to host the Southwest Support Group Leaders for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the All Progressives Congress. He said the essence of the Summit is to make the Southwest gets more political appointments thereby evolving politically, and nipped in the bud, culture of mal-administration in the Country.

When asked to assess the level of governance in Ekiti State, Ogunkoyode noted that he has not seen anything on ground that would warrant him to do so.

“I have not really seen any new development, nothing. Nothing is going on except some of the roads that are been patched here and there in the State. That is the only thing that I can say is going on in Ekiti now.

“But at the National level, you know it’s very difficult when the economy has been bastardized. No one can restructured a bastardized economy over night. It involves process and things linger a little before everything can be normalized”, he said.

Citing the removal of fuel subsidy, Ogunkoyode reminded Nigerians that, Asiwaju Tinubu has said during the campaigns that he was going to remove it. “If fuel subsidy is being used at appropriate time, there won’t be any need for fuel subsidy at all. Several arguments have emerged that fuel subsidy has been aiding corruption in the country, hence the need for its removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on assumption of office.

“I want to urge Nigerians to exercise patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the current state of the Country’s economy. The President should be allowed to fix the economy for it to start producing.

“The economy at the moment is not producing. Production in Nigeria now is at the lowest level and it cannot improve until it is controlled. If the country’s production is at the lowest level, and there is no means of generating foreign exchange in dollars, the purchasing power of the currency of such a country will be minimum”.

Speaking, the National Convener of the Nigeria Political Summit in the Southwest Zone, comprised all the Southwest Zone Support Groups Leaders for the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu election as President of the country, Ambassador Adewale Adeogun, stated that their target is to secure political appointments through Board appointments, contract awards, creating more leadership roles for the APC Support Groups within the government hierarchies and ensure state governments in the APC controlled states implement the earlier three points raised above.

Ambassador Adeogun, pointed out that, as supporters and followers of Asiwaju, they are not just interested in running through his routes, but want to replicate his political and thorough-bred leadership career style with which he rose from the city of Lagos to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Also, Adeogun listed the group targets to include; the Yoruba’s Unity, the continued unflinching supports to the President and the current APC led government as well as adequate compensation and recognition of all party registered support groups for their spirited supports to the Asiwaju Tinubu 2023 project.

He maintained that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu equally deserves their unflinching support towards his 2027 second term Presidential Project so that he will not fail. “Asiwaju has started well, he must do well and lived well after his 8 years in office as President, with Yoruba rolling out drums to celebrate him.

The National Convener also used the Ekiti Summit to appeal to all the Yoruba leaders, Federal appointees, politicians and Elders of influence to ceaselessly remind President Tinubu to do more for those in the Southwest APC Support Groups, and not to forget their massive campaigns for him.

In an interview with Treasure Newspaper, Ambassador Adeogun, called on the six Governors in the Southwest, Senators, Members of the Federal House of Representatives, States Houses of Assembly, including the local government Chairmen in the States that are being controlled by the All Progressives Congress, to remember all the Support Groups in the Southwest and compensate them.

He urged President Tinubu not to forget to reward their loyalty to him. They assured him, that they are resolute to continue to support him, so that he will not disappoint the electorates who voted him as President.

Speaking with Elder Osho Kayode Adeola, a former Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Values Orientation, described Engineer Kayode Ojo as an Ekiti man who means well for the Yorubas. “Engineer Kayode Ojo is a man whose interest of the Yoruba race is paramount in his heart, hence his decision to singlehandedly host the Southwest Zone Support Group Leaders Summit in Ekiti State.

Osho advised the people of Ekiti State to continue to speak with one voice in support of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regardless of the present economic situations or realities at hand.

“The government of President Tinubu is just 8 months in the saddle. Nigerians should give him more time before they will begin to assess his performances in office. He described President Tinubu as a man endowed with business acumen who did well when he was the Lagos State Governor”, he said.

Osho assured Nigerians that Nigeria is safe in the hand of President Tinubu considering his business skills.

Meanwhile, Osho while assessing the performances of the government of Ekiti State, said, he is yet to come to term with the direction of the present government in the state. He, however, urged Ekiti citizens to also wait till when the government will clock two years in office before x-raying the administration.

In an interaction with Alofe Jacob Oludare after the meeting, who joined his voice on the call to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stated that the people of Ekiti State needs his help most especially in the area of establishing industries to boost the economy status of the State.

He decried the situation the previous governments in Ekiti left the State since it’s creation, declaring that they had woefully failed to established industries that can provide employments for unemployed and jobless graduates in the State as a terrible development.

He submitted that the people of Ekiti State should blame those who have been Governors in the State for failing to do the needful at their own time.
