Tinubu Commiserates With Ex-UBA Chairman, Israel Ogbue’s Family Over Death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commiserated with the former United Bank for Africa, UBA’s Chairman, Chief Israel Ogbue’s family over his death at the age of 99 years old. 

In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, President Tinubu extended his sympathy to the Late Chief Israel Ogbue’s friends, relatives and associates.

Speaking on the life time and career of Late Chief Israel Ogbue in the Federal Civil Service, the National Insurance Corporation, NICON, and that of the NAL Merchant Bank, Tinubu recalled “how Chief Ogbue served as a Non-Executive Director of UBA from 2005 until 2011, before he was appointed Chairman of UBA and served on the board till 2013”.

Continuing, Tinubu said, “throughout Ogbue’s tenure, he displayed dignity and strategic foresight and provided steady, principled leadership during a pivotal period in the bank’s transformation”.

“Chief Ogbue was the father of Dr Awele Elumelu, the wife of UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu”.

The President extends his condolences to the Elumelu family and the extended family members over this loss. He also sympathises with UBA’s Board, management, and staff.

President Tinubu acknowledges the numerous testimonies praising the exemplary life and times of the late UBA Chairman, who was a devoted family man, committed public servant, and a Christian. 

Tinubu also hailed him for living a life of humility, dedicating his time, treasures, and experience to serving the church, the poor, the vulnerable, and his community.

The President however prayed to God to receive his departed patriarch soul and blessed his family he lived behind.
