The Southwest Agenda For Asiwaju, SWAGA, which was established to actualize the Presidential ambition of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the February 25th, 2023 presidential election in the Southwest, and Ekiti State in particular, has formally launched a door to door campaigns in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital on Wednesday.
The National Coordinator of the Southwest Agenda For Asiwaju, SWAGA, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye while declaring open the door to door campaigns in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday urged members of the group in the State to intensify their door-to-door campaign for the Tinubu/Shettima victory at the polls on February 25.
Senator Adeyeye made the appeal in Ado-Ekiti while addressing the members that turned up from the sixteen local government areas of the state.
He told them that the gathering was essentially to implore them to scale up their grassroots door-to-door campaign drive that will translate to the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adeyeye reminded them that the presidential election is just a few days away, stressing that they should not relent. He pointed out that he was the architect of SWAGA, a political body aimed at realizing the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu which he has midwifed for the past three years.
He described Tinubu as a healthy, energetic, and knowledgeable man to lead the country to its political dream. Adding that to accomplish this, the presidential candidate has evolved a Six-point Agenda that will drive his government.
Baring his mind on the scarcity of the naira notes, Adeyeye described it as a seif-inflicted wound on the people of Nigeria. According to him, “not that Nigerians inflicted it on themselves, but people in authority who are in charge of the economic system have decided on their own to determine the fate of a particular candidate. They are afraid because people are beginning to understand the reason Nigerians are going through this painful period”.
“Our message is that people should spread it from door-to door that this is an unnecessary pain inflicted on them by a group of people who have decided that they don’t want the election of this year to succeed. They are afraid while Nigerians have decided to go on with the election anchored on Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Six-point agenda that will ameliorate the sufferings of the people”.
The SWAGA National Coordinator enjoined the members and the masses to always listen to Tinubu, while those in authority should also listen to him and take corrections. He believed that there was no need for Nigerians to go through what they are going through.
“Changing currency does not need to go through this painful process. If you want to change currency, you give yourself good time limit. In other climes, if you want to do it,you give yourself a two-month time period for that to be accomplished. But you have suddenly said within a particular period this thing must be completed, old naira notes must not be accepted. Yesterday I sent somebody to the bank to change the old naira notes, they did not accept them from him. And now we cannot spend the old naira notes and we cannot find the new ones. Why do you need to go through this type of hardship”?.
“I want to say that the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele is going down in history as the worst Central bank governor in Nigeria. Emefiele should rethink of how he is becoming very controversial everyday. He is sponsoring one group or the other to demonstrate for him. I have never seen this in the history of Nigeria. Governor of Central bank organizing groups of people to be going to the streets to demonstrate and be carrying placards for him. I have not even seen a governor of Central bank who came out openly to say he was running for president. And even went to court to compel the party to accept him. I have never seen it,it has never happened anywhere in the world.
He advised those supporting Emefiele to reflect on, noting that the consequences of his actions will live with him till death. “So we want to admonish him to retrace his step. This is not politics,I am not just talking as a politician supporting a particular candidate, but because of the Nigerian masses.
The former member of the National Assembly said a lot of Nigerians are not happy with what is going on in the Central bank and the Central bank governor. “we have had Central bank governors in this country, eminent economists who moved this country in the right direction. All indices since Emefiele came have been going downward”.
On the new naira notes, he remarked that a compassionate person like Bola Ahmed Tinubu becoming president will not allow Nigerians to lose their money like that. “I want to join governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State in telling people that they should go and vote for Ahmed Tinubu, and whoever has the old naira notes should know they will not become useless. They will change them by the time Tinubu becomes president.
A member of SWAGA and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo renewed the appeal for the members to strengthen their efforts towards wooing the electorate in their various areas.
He assured them that everybody’s contributions for the success of Tinubu at the polls will be rewarded. Adding that it is incumbent on them to go and demonstrate their last minute strength by delivering the right message of victory to the people whose ballots are necessary for the APC presidential candidate to garner the greatest votes among his opponents.
