Tinubu Reacts To Kebbi’s Kidnapping, Promises Quick Return

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima to Kebbi State to commiserate with the government and meet families of the schoolgirls abducted from a boarding school in Maga, assuring that the Federal Government is working round the clock to secure their immediate rescue.

Tinubu, who received full security briefings on the incident, expressed deep concern that the abduction occurred despite earlier intelligence warnings suggesting a possible bandit attack. 

He praised Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to avert the kidnapping but condemned the breach that allowed the criminals to escape with the girls.

Alongside the Kebbi situation, the president also mourned Brigadier General Musa Uba and several soldiers who were killed while battling insurgents in Borno State. 

He described their deaths as a painful loss to the nation, calling them gallant heroes who died in the line of duty.

“As Commander-in-Chief, I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our brave soldiers. May God comfort their families,” Tinubu said.

The president said he is equally pained that terrorists disrupted the education of innocent children, stressing that he has already directed security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back safely.

Tinubu also appealed to Nigerians, especially community leaders in areas struggling with insecurity, to provide credible information that can help the military, police, and DSS prevent further attacks. 

According to him, security agencies cannot operate effectively without community cooperation.

“Our security forces cannot succeed without the full support of citizens. I urge communities, especially those in frontline areas, to share useful intelligence that will help keep everyone safe,” he said.

Vice President Shettima is expected to meet government officials, traditional rulers, security operatives, and families of the abducted students during his visit.
