Unveiling Ekiti Hidden Nature As Ipole – Arinta Waterfall Beckons For Tourists

It is apt to say, that in the heart of Ekiti State lies the Ipole community, home to a breathtaking waterfall that has been a well-kept secret for centuries.

The Waterfalls, known as Arinta, boasts a rich history dating back to the 10th century, and its name translates to “I trekked, I hunted, and now see a wonder”.

Recently, the Kabiyesi of Ekiti Ikale Sibe, Oba Ezekiel Babalola Oladele David, the 3rd Olowo Ile of Ipole Ekiti, shared the fascinating story of the waterfalls with journalists.

According to Oba David, the waterfalls origins are deeply rooted in the community’s history.

“Arinta is more than just a natural wonder; it holds a significant cultural and medicinal value,” Oba David explained.

“The community believes that the waterfalls has the power to cure skin diseases, and its serene environment makes it an ideal spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.”

Despite its vast potential, the Arinta Waterfalls has not been developed for tourism, with the current investor failing to meet expectations.

Oba David has appealed to the Ekiti State government to intervene and provide necessary infrastructures to develop the site.

“We are eager to showcase the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Ekiti State to the world,” Oba David said.

“We believe that with the right investment, investor and support, the Arinta Waterfalls can become a major tourist attraction, generating revenue and creating jobs for the local community.”

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi who led a team of journalists to the site, emphasized the need for the government to develop the waterfalls and other tourist attractions in Ekiti State.

“These sites have the potential to generate significant revenue and create employment opportunities for the local community,” Babatuyi corroborated.

“We urged the government to take immediate action to develop the Arinta Waterfalls and other tourist attractions in Ekiti State, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty to the world.”

As the Ipole Ekiti community opens its doors to the world, the Arinta Waterfalls is poised to become a major tourist attraction, offering visitors a unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and relaxation.

The Ekiti State government has been called upon to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the development of the Waterfalls, including providing good access roads, parking facilities, and amenities such as restaurants and hotels.

With its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and potential for economic growth, the Arinta Waterfalls is set to become a flagship tourist attraction in Ekiti State, showcasing the best of what the State has to offer to visitors from around the World.
