The General Officer Commanding (GOC) for 2nd Division of the Nigerian Army at Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, Major General Bamidele Alabi has stated that the Nigerian Army cherish the relationship it enjoys with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the GOC, 2nd Division of the Nigerian Army at Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr Charles Ekeocha, the Deputy Director of the 2nd Division of the Army Public Relations of the Nigerian Army Division made the above statement when he played host to the members of the Association at the Headquarters of 2 Division Conference Hall, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
According to the GOC, Nigerian Army sees journalists as partners in progress as the Journalists have the responsibility to inform the country while the Nigerian Army has the responsibility to protect the country.

He further employed the members of NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter to continue to support the Nigerian Army in her duties of internal security and protecting the territorial integrity of the country. This should be done by bearing in mind the national security implication in their reportage.
In this vein, partnership and cross checking of facts will do a lot of good for both sides.
While making her remarks, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Jadesola Ajibola appreciated the GOC and his Staff Officers for the hospitality and support NAWOJ has continued to enjoy from the Nigerian Army, thanking the GOC and his Staff Officers for giving them the opportunity to visit.
She advocated for ‘solution journalism’ as key to resolving the grey areas between the Nigerian Army and the Journalists in the Country.
The major highlights of the visit was the presentation of souvenir and a group photograph.
