Xmas/New Year: Ekiti Road Safety Corps Deploys 735 Personnel, 13 Vehicles, 2 Ambulances, I Tow Truck

The Federal Road Safety Corps, the Ekiti State Command, has deployed a total of 735 personnels, 13 vehicles, 2 ambulances and 1 tow truck ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year Celebrations in the State. 

In a press release made public on Tuesday, the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Tajudeen Balogun on behalf of the Sector Commander, in line with the Corps commitment, pledged to ensure safer motoring environment during this year’s Christmas and New Year Celebrations in Ekiti State.

Balogun assured that the Ekiti Sector Command has commenced the 2025 Operation Zero Tolerance where the FRSC personnels will exhibit strict compliance for any form of traffic infractions that can directly or indirectly cause or induce road crashes. 

He reiterated that the statistics reeled out about both the human and materials deployment is to help achieve total sanity on Ekiti roads during this yuletide season. 

“During this period, the Mobile court sittings has equally been activated to allow for quick administration and dispensation of justice. 

Balogun added that, reports from across the three Senatorial districts of Ekiti State revealed that, 62 traffic offenders have been apprehended and prosecuted with 4 totally discharged and acquitted for want of evidence and on compassionate grounds.

To further ensure that roads within Ekiti are safely used, the Ekiti FRSC command in collaboration with the Nigeria Medical Association, Ekiti State Chapter has also put together a medical outreach program where drivers had their vital signs and eyes checked freely.

The Ekiti FRSC has also taking it upon itself to educate drivers to ensure they take proper care of their health with adequate knowledge of the high codes, traffic rules that can guarantee a safe usage of roads across the State. 

“Our men have equally been strategically positioned to tame surging traffic volume by conducting traffic control at major high traffic prone areas, black spots and our Help Area such as the Ambulance points at Agbado Ekiti and Omuo Ekiti fully activated to attend to any emergencies.

“While the command will continue to carry on with it’s sensitization outreach at various motor parks across the state, the Corps Toll-free line 122 is awaiting any caller with calls related to need to clear obstructions, report crashes, traffic congestions and other road safety emergencies.

“Appreciating the cooperation enjoyed so far from members of the motoring public, the Sector Commander CC Sanya Adeoye appealed for more cooperation, understanding and patience as they try to ensure that all road users use the road safely”.
