2023 Electioneering Campaigns: Anambra Police Commissioner Directs Political Parties To Submit Time Table Of Activities

Anambra State Police Command in his press release sent to the Treasure Newspaper stated that, the Police Commissioner dropped the message on Tuesday at the Command’s headquarters in Awka when he met with leaders of all the Political Parties in the state in his office.

The CP advised the leaders of the political parties to promptly notify his command of their activities of campaign as they commenced political campaigns across the State. He alluded to the fact that since campaigns are a critical part of the electioneering process, that, providing the time table for campaigns will help his Command to provide adequate security for the safety of participants for such events.

The Command shall also deploy other tactical and operational units as well as traffic control policemen to strategic points to ensure that the existing public safety and order in the state is sustained. 

The teams, are expected to carry out security patrols, surveillance, traffic control and patrols in conjunction with sister security agents with the aim of preventing criminal elements and hoodlums from taking advantage of unsuspecting party faithfuls and properly secure such events.

The CP however, admonished officers that would be deployed for this assignment to display high level of professionalism and operate within the context of the law. He also, called on members of the public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the police and other sister security agents in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities. 

Present at the meeting are Mr Anuforo Kingsely, the Head of Department, Electoral Operations for the State INEC; the Assistant Commissioner Police in Charge of Operations, ACP Anietie Akpan Eyoh and various leaders of Political parties.
