Leaders, delegates, and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District has on Tuesday formally endorsed the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the consensus candidate of the zone for the 2027 senatorial election.
The endorsement, described as a strategic move to strengthen party unity and ensure quality representation, was witnessed by prominent APC leaders, including the party’s consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, former deputy governors, party executives, and other stakeholders across Ogun East.
Among dignitaries present at the gathering were former deputy governors Yetunde Onanuga, Segun Adesegun, and Gbenga Kaka; Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; Deputy Chairman, Chief James Dina; Chairman of Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Lekan Mustapha; and Chairman of APC in Ogun East Zone, Dr. Adeleke Ogundoyin.

Presenting Governor Abiodun to the stakeholders, former Deputy Governor Segun Adesegun disclosed that party members across Ogun East unanimously agreed to adopt the governor as the APC consensus candidate for the senatorial seat.
Also speaking, Senator Lekan Mustapha explained that the adoption reflected the collective desire of the people of Ogun East to secure effective and people-oriented representation at the National Assembly.
He recalled that stakeholders at a previous meeting held on April 20 had unanimously resolved to support Governor Abiodun’s senatorial ambition, adding that Tuesday’s gathering was organized to officially communicate the decision to the governor and party leadership.

In his remarks, Dr. Adeleke Ogundoyin formally presented Governor Abiodun to the Ogun State APC leadership, urging the state chairman to forward his name to the party’s national secretariat as the official flag bearer for Ogun East Senatorial District.
Responding, Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, describing the consensus arrangement as a sign of political maturity, unity, and shared commitment to the development of Ogun East and the state at large.

The governor said he was deeply honoured by the overwhelming support and assured party faithful that he would not disappoint them if elected to represent Ogun East at the Senate.
He pledged to provide purposeful and quality representation capable of attracting more development and democratic dividends to the district.

Governor Abiodun also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support his administration has received from the Federal Government, while commending leaders of Ogun East for prioritizing unity and cohesion within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APC and promised to continue working closely with stakeholders across the district to sustain the developmental achievements recorded in Ogun State.

The governor equally thanked Senator Olamilekan Adeola, former deputy governors, party executives, elders, and other stakeholders for their solidarity and support, assuring them that the APC would remain united and victorious in Ogun State.
