Ekiti Rainbow Coalition Inaugurates Local Government Executives Across State

The Ekiti Rainbow Coalition has formally inaugurated its local government executive structures across all the 16 local government areas of the State, marking a major organisational milestone ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

The inauguration ceremony, attracted parties stakeholders, community leaders, women wing youth organisations, and representatives of the various progressive political parties that make up the coalition.

Addressing the newly inaugurated executives, one of the Convener of the Coalition, Hon. Owoola Daramola, urged them to serve as credible ambassadors in their respective councils. 

He encouraged them to work in unity, maintain discipline, and promote the coalition’s mission at the grassroots. 

Daramola emphasised the advantage of coalition politics, describing the Rainbow Coalition as a platform where competence and shared values rise above party boundaries.

He added that ensuring another leadership takes charge of Ekiti State in 2026 has become necessary in view of current realities and the need for a fresh direction.

Earlier in his remarks, another convener Hon. Kayode Olowookere highlighted the importance of loyalty and cooperation among members from different political backgrounds. 

He explained that the coalition emerged in response to what many citizens across the state describe as stagnation, underdevelopment, and dissatisfaction with the current administration. 

He noted that widespread complaints from residents about lack of visible progress in infrastructure, poor economic expansion, and weakened governance structures further necessitated the formation of a united political force.

Olowookere stressed that the coalition exists to give Ekiti people a stronger and collective alternative capable of restoring growth and accountability.

The ceremony was characterised by excitement and a strong sense of political readiness. Attendees expressed happiness over the new structure and reaffirmed their preparedness to deliver victory in the 2026 governorship election. Many of the newly inaugurated executives pledged total commitment to grassroots mobilisation and coalition-building efforts.

During the event, stakeholders also reviewed some of the concerns commonly raised by Ekiti residents regarding the current administration. These include, complaints of slow infrastructural development in several communities and perceived stagnation in job creation and youth empowerment.

Lack of visible improvements in local government autonomy and service delivery and concerns about transparency and leadership inclusiveness.

Stakeholders argued that these issues contributed to growing public disapproval and reinforced the call for a new leadership direction in 2026.

The ceremony also featured the inauguration and formation of new executives, followed by strategy sessions on voter education, community mobilisation, and strengthening alliances across the state.
