The Imole Aibana Foundation has distributed food items, school bags and NECO forms in Abeokuta, a humanitarian gesture that has renewed calls for well-meaning Nigerians to complement government efforts in alleviating the hardship faced by citizens.
The call was made by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Faida Akintunde Sarumi, at the unveiling of the Imole Aibana Foundation in Ago-Ika, Abeokuta.
Speaking during the presentation of school bags and other educational materials to pupils in Ago-Ika and its environs, Hon. Sarumi stressed the importance of quality education in building a better future.
She commended the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Sheriff Aibana, for the initiative and urged other stakeholders to emulate the gesture in the interest of children and generations yet unborn.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, represented by his Vice, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, lauded the founder’s commitment to community development.
Sodipo said the donation would provide succour to parents preparing their wards for the new academic session. He also applauded the foundation’s financial support for the aged and widows, as well as the provision of NECO forms for secondary school students, and called on other philanthropists in the state to emulate the kind gesture.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman, Ward 7, Abeokuta North, Mr. Adekunle Musa, thanked the foundation for choosing to impact the community at a trying time.
He listed the foundation’s interventions to include donation of items to the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, Ibara, a free medical outreach featuring blood sugar and blood pressure checks with free drugs, distribution of school bags, payment for NECO examinations, scholarships, and cash gifts to the aged and widows.

He urged the founder not to relent, noting that the prayers of the beneficiaries would be rewarding.
Earlier, the founder, Alhaji Sheriff Aibana, disclosed that the foundation had been operating in Lagos before he relocated to his hometown, Abeokuta.
He said the three-day outreach programme had exposed him to the depth of challenges facing people in society.
Aibana explained that the foundation was established to complement government efforts, noting that government alone cannot meet all the needs of citizens, hence the need for stakeholders to contribute their quota to national development.
He promised to expand the scope of the foundation’s interventions to reach more people within and outside the community, assuring that such programmes would be held regularly.
