BOUESTI Matriculates 6,920 Students 

… As VC Urges Freshers To Key Into NELFUND Facility

The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola, has urged the newly admitted students and their parents to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as the institution matriculates 6,920 students for the 2025/2026 academic session. 

He gave the charge during the matriculation ceremony held at the university’s Sports Pavilion on Wednesday.

Addressing parents, guardians, and students, Omojola described the NELFUND facility as a Federal Government initiative designed to ease the financial burden of higher education. 

He said the scheme would reduce the pressure on families and enable more siblings have access to university education, especially in homes where financial constraints limit sponsorship opportunities.

The Vice-Chancellor added that beneficiaries of the loan scheme may receive priority consideration for employment to facilitate repayment, describing it as not only an educational support programme but also a pathway to economic empowerment. 

He called on parents to actively support their children in applying for the fund.

Welcoming the fresh students on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students, Omojola congratulated them on their admission, describing their success as a product of hard work and resilience. 

He appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the university, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his continued support for the institution.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Chancellor, Chief Wole Olanipekun, and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina, for their leadership and commitment to the university’s growth.

Omojola reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, integrity, innovation and diversity. 

He also use the opportunity to assure students of access to quality education, research opportunities and a supportive learning environment aligned with global best practices. 

He encouraged them to participate in extra-curricular activities and to acquire entrepreneurial skills in addition to their academic degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor warned that the institution maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline, cultism, bullying, cybercrime and examination malpractice. 

He urged students to remain security conscious and embrace dialogue rather than violence in making legitimate demands, noting that the university upholds democratic principles and freedom of expression.

In his goodwill message, the Ekiti State JAMB Coordinator, Mr. Ishola Ganiyu, described the matriculating students as fortunate and privileged. 

He charged them to remain focused on their studies and reminded parents of their responsibility to guide their children. 

He also reiterated that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund facility is available to support their academic journey.

The ceremony featured the administration of the matriculation oath to the 6,920 students, formally admitting them into the academic community. 

University officials, staff, parents, guardians and invited guests attended the event, which marked a significant milestone in the students’ educational pursuit.
