No To False Allegations As Campaign Mounts for Release of Ibitola Babatope “SUGARITO”, One Other

The arrest of Comrade Ibitola Babatope, popularly known as “SUGARITO”, and his colleague Boluwaji Ishola has sparked widespread concern among media professionals, associates, and members of the public.

SUGARITO is widely known as a responsible media personality committed to peaceful political engagement and professional duty.

On the night in question, SUGARITO was at a hotel carrying out his role as Head of Media Supervision ahead of the upcoming primary election. With him was Boluwaji Ishola, a trusted media colleague and National President of the Moba L.G Students Union, working under SUGARITO’s supervision.

Both were engaged in legitimate media assignments — working on their HP laptops, strategizing and coordinating communications for the political exercise.

It is shocking that a media professional known for his calm demeanor, intellect, and lawful conduct would be linked to allegations of cultism and political thuggery without transparent investigation.

Such grave accusations must not rest on speculation, assumption, or mere presence at a politically connected location.

SUGARITO is recognized as a peace-loving individual whose work centers on communication, advocacy, and social development. Those familiar with him can attest to his professionalism and non-violent disposition.

At a time when young professionals are contributing to democracy through media and intellectual engagement, it is alarming to see individuals criminalized for carrying out legitimate duties. Justice, fairness, and due process must override sensational claims and public misrepresentation.

We call on the appropriate authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force, to ensure a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation. The rights and dignity of those involved must be protected. The public deserves the truth, and innocent citizens deserve protection from wrongful profiling and damaging allegations.

We say NO to scripted arrests and false allegations. Release Ibitola Babatope “SUGARITO” and Boluwaji Ishola now.
