Fatoba Trounces Rival With 362 Votes In Ado Ward 8 APC Primary

Party members turned out in their large numbers on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election held in Ado Ekiti Ward 8, where voting was conducted peacefully under the Option A4 system. Hon. Olushola Fatoba trounced his rivals, polling 362 votes to win in his own ward.

Four aspirants contested the seat: Fatoba, Dr. Yemi Olayinka, Mr. Tope Ogunleye, and Mr. Sunday Ola.

However, only agents of Hon. Olushola Fatoba and Dr Yemi Olayinka participated in the process at the ward. 

Before the exercise, a party leader, Mr. Gbenga Banji appealed to members to maintain order and decorum as they cast their votes. 

The Returning Officer, Mr. Ademola Adetola also addressed the gathering and invited agents of all contestants to observe the process. Notably, Mr. Tope Ogunleye and Mr. Sunday Ola had no party agents on ground.  

When votes were counted, Hon. Olushola Fatoba emerged the clear winner with 362 votes. His closest challenger, Dr. Yemi Olayinka, polled 57 votes.  

Reacting to the outcome, Dr. Olayinka thanked his supporters for their loyalty, though he alleged that intimidation marred parts of the process.  

Reacting to his victory in his ward, Hon. Fatoba described the win as a “collective triumph” for Ward 8 and expressed gratitude to party faithful for their overwhelming backing. 

He called for unity within the APC, noting that grassroots mobilization and cohesion would be critical for future political contests.
