Oluremi Tinubu Leads APC Women’s Rally in Ekiti, Backs Oyebanji for Second Term

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s re-election bid got a major lift on Saturday as First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu led thousands of women and APC supporters at a campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, backing Oyebanji for a second term. 

Speaking at the flag-off of the APC Women Campaign Rally during her one-day working visit to the state, the First Lady called for a landslide victory for the governor in the June 20 governorship election.

She described Oyebanji as results-driven leader whose development record justifies a second term and urged women, youths, and all eligible voters to back him to sustain ongoing projects and policies across Ekiti.

Senator Tinubu also asked residents to keep supporting the Federal Government’s reform agenda. She noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies, including fuel subsidy removal, are already increasing allocations to states and enabling more infrastructure and social services. While acknowledging current economic hardship, she assured Nigerians that the administration is committed to long-term solutions that improve welfare.

As part of her economic empowerment push, the First Lady announced a N100 million grant for 2,000 petty traders in Ekiti to scale up their businesses.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji thanked Ekiti women for their consistent support, calling them key partners in his administration’s progress. He pledged to build on his achievements and keep prioritizing people-focused projects if re-elected. He also restated Ekiti’s support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

The governor’s wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, said residents should expect more dividends of democracy through continued investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare. She appealed for votes to ensure policy continuity.

APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Idele and Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim also urged massive support for both Oyebanji and President Tinubu, describing them as leaders committed to national growth.

Beyond the rally, Senator Tinubu commissioned an ICT Experience Centre at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, to boost students’ access to CBT facilities and digital learning. 

She later met with traditional rulers across the state, calling for peaceful coexistence between communities and government as a foundation for sustainable development.

The event drew top dignitaries, including Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, several governors’ wives, Ekiti Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye; former Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, party leaders, and supporters.
