LAGOS — The APC-linked Citizens in Politics Assembly, CIPA, on Sunday has inaugurated a 15-member National Executive Council to drive ethical politics and deepen citizen engagement across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The ceremony, held May 31, 2026, marks CIPA’s transition from a founding initiative into a fully operational national organization under the All Progressives Congress.
Leadership Lineup:
Dr. Mrs. Abigail Olagbaye was named Director General and National Coordinator, leading a team of professionals, technocrats, and zonal coordinators.

Core Mandate:
The NEC is tasked with promoting ethical governance, boosting citizen participation, and developing new leaders through training, mentorship, and capacity-building programmes. It will also ensure accountability in implementing CIPA’s strategic goals.

According to the CIPA National Secretariat, the appointments aim to prove that “governance can be conducted with integrity, that leadership can be guided by principle, and that citizens have a constructive role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future.”
Reaffirming its APC alignment, CIPA said it will support democratic institutions, civic education, leadership development, and public accountability nationwide, and called on stakeholders to engage with its nationwide mobilization efforts.
