Police Warn Transport Unions Against Planned Protest, Cite Risk of Violence

The Ekiti State Police Command has issued a strong warning over plans by members of transport unions in the state to stage a protest on Monday, 22nd June, 2026, aimed at disrupting the current leadership structure.

According to intelligence reports received by the Command, the proposed protest could degenerate into violence, public disorder, and potential loss of lives.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, cautioned all groups particularly road transport unions against any form of protest, gathering, or unlawful assembly capable of breaching the peace and security of Ekiti State. He described such actions as unacceptable.

CP Falade urged aggrieved parties to remain calm and channel their grievances through lawful and peaceful means. 

He stressed that the Command will not tolerate any attempt to disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed across the state, and warned that decisive action will be taken against individuals or groups found culpable.

The Command advised residents to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and to continue their lawful activities without fear. The public is encouraged to report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station.

The Ekiti State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining public order throughout the state.
