The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has warned officers and men of the command to stay neutral ahead of the forthcoming general elections and to desist from misconduct, extortion, human rights abuses and other unprofessional conduct.

CP Falade gave the warning at a strategic meeting with officers held at the Officers’ Mess Auditorium, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, where he conveyed the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on professionalism, accountability and operational discipline.

He said the command has zero tolerance for extortion, unlawful detention, intimidation, abuse of authority and violation of fundamental human rights, noting that such acts erode public confidence in the police.

The CP directed that all criminal investigations must be thorough, intelligence-driven and carried out in line with due process and established procedures, warning that any officer found culpable of misconduct would face disciplinary action.

He also charged supervisory officers, Heads of Departments and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to take full responsibility for the conduct of personnel under their watch, and ordered strict compliance with the principles of Proportionality, Legality, Accountability and Necessity (PLAN) in all operations.

Falade further cautioned officers against political partisanship and any act capable of compromising the neutrality of the police, directing personnel to remain professional, impartial and firm, and to provide adequate security for all political parties, candidates and the electorate before, during and after the polls.
