The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan Ibrahim, is in Osun State to supervise the election of the state chapter’s executive committee scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Police Headquarters, Osogbo.
Speaking in Osogbo on Monday, Alhaji Ibrahim said he arrived in the state with a delegation of PCRC leaders to oversee the electoral process.
“I am here in Osun to supervise the PCRC state executive election coming up tomorrow. We just met with the electoral committee. Everything is in progress as they are screening the aspirants,” he said.

According to him, the screening is mandatory to verify the background and intentions of the aspirants.
“Before you can become a state officer, you need to pass through some processes. We need to know your background and your intention and whether you are ready to serve our dear country by supporting the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in fighting crime in our communities,” he explained.

Alhaji Ibrahim noted that the election is strictly for the Osun State Executive of the PCRC. He disclosed that he had just returned from similar exercises in Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Kano states.
He added that the exercise is being witnessed by PCRC leaders from Kwara, Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states.

On the timing of the election which seems to coincide with the Osun State Governorship Election, the National Chairman said it is an internal affair of the PCRC and has no link with it.
“Our role is very important and we cannot abandon our community. Our election has nothing to do with any federal government election. This is our internal arrangement and we must hold our election,” he said.

Alhaji Ibrahim, who operates from Abuja where the national headquarters is located, said he was formerly the Ogun State Chairman of the PCRC and one-time National Vice Chairman for the South-West.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the PCRC to supporting the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and other security agencies, adding that the committee recently launched the Safe School Initiative to tackle insecurity in schools.

“We have over 40 million members in this country and we are deploying that strength to support our IGP. His father was one of those who formed the PCRC in this country and he believes so much in our leadership. We are not going to let him down,” he stated.
He advised all contestants in the Osun election to focus on campaigning and reaching out to delegates, assuring that the process would be transparent.

“They should campaign and reach out to the electorate, because with IGP Olatunji Disu, there is no room for ballot snatching. There will be no compromise. The election will be open, free and fair. He will not take sides with any political party or group,” he said.
