Twelve Suspects Arrested By Zamfara Police Command For Banditry, Arms Deal, Thuggery

arms deal and political thuggery just as it has recovered four (4) locally made fabricated guns, Oart of AK 47 Rifle, 100 Rounds of AK 47 Live Ammunition, Seven (7) Cartridges, Cutlass and Bunch of Charms.

Speaking further with the Treasure Newspaper on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, made the development public from Gusau, the State headquarters of Zamfara State.

Mohammed in his revelation revealed further that, arrest of five (5) armed thugs in connection with the sporadic shootings that resulted to the killing of one (1) person and injuring of eleven (11) others have been effected while those injured already hospitalized and receiving medical attention at Yariman Bakura Specialist hospital in Gusau. 

Mohammed listed the names of the five (5) suspects to include Lawali Yakubu ‘M’, Aminu Abubakar ‘M’, Su’aibu Mohammed ‘M’, Abdulmumini Bawa ‘M’ and Surajo Yahaya ‘M’ while the exhibits recovered from them also includes 

four (4) Locally fabricated guns with seven cartridges, one cutlass and 

bunch of charms.

Mohammed further explained that, on the 15th of October, 2022, at about 18:15 hours, that the Zamfara State Police Command was alerted through a distress call of the action of the armed political thugs and subsequently, mobilized it’s Tactical Operatives to the scene of the crime in an effort to curtail the situation and arrest the perpetrators.

Mohammed stated that the hoodlums on sighting the Police Tactical Operatives, engaged them in serious shoot out, thereby putting the lives of the Police Operatives and peace loving citizens of the State into danger, and that, acting professionally, using minimum force, the arrest of the five (5) suspects were made while some others fled the scene of the shoot out. 

Also, in another development, the Zamfara State Police Command has arrested three (3) bandits informants who engaged in gun running businesses between Jos in Plateau State and some parts of Zamfara State. The lists of the suspects arrested in respect to the gun running business are Abubakar Buda, Bitrus Bulus AKA Peter and Weng Adamu.

Exhibits recovered from them are part of an AK 47 Rifle and 100 Round of AK 47 Live Ammunitions. 

“On 11th October, 2022, Police Tactical operatives deployed along Tsafe – Funtua Road acted on intelligence information that led to the interception of a Golf Vehicle Dark Arsh in colour, which was driven by one Abubakar Buda, a 32 yrs old, a native of Zuru LGA of Kebbi State. The suspect was arrested along Tsafe – Funtua road, while on transit back from Jos in Plateau State to Kucheri in Tsafe where he was to deliver Arms and Ammunition to a notorious bandit leader called Chumo”.

Search was conducted on the spot, and the above exhibits were recovered in his possession. In the course of interrogation, he mentioned some of his collaborators as Bitrus Bulus a.k.a. Peter and Weng Adamu both ‘M’ of Jos South LGA of Plateau State as his partner in crime. Same suspect further confessed to the Police that he has been into Arm supply Business where he severally collected Arms and Ammunition from one James in Jos now at large and deliver to the above named Bandit leader, who has been terrorisjng Tsafe – Funtua Road as well as attacked villages and communities in Tsafe and Mada in Gusau LGAs respectively. The two other suspects were also arrested and they have confessed to be bandits collaborators. Investigation is in progress.

In addition, an arrest of four (4) suspected bandits terrorizing the Tsafe – Funtua road in Zamfara State in recent times have also been made. The suspects arrested in connection to it are Ibrahim Abubakar ‘M’ 20YRS, Sani Abacha Yahaya ‘M’ 20YRS, Sani Mohammadu ‘M’ 23YRS and Ahmadu Sani ‘M’ 22 YRS.

Exhibits recovered are two (2) motorcycles, four (4) handsets, one (1) walking talkee radio and a sum of N140,000.

“On 15th October, 2022 at about 1600hrs, Police Tactical Operatives while on patrol along Tsafe – Funtua Road acted on intelligence information and intercepted two Motorcycles carrying two persons each. The suspects were arrested with walking talkee, which they used to communicate among themselves during operations”.

“Intelligence information about them revealed that, they are among the hoodlums that terrorise commuters along Tsafe – Funtua road by attacking, killing and kidnapping innocent people. They also belong to a notorious  syndicate that made life unbearable in several villages in Tsafe and it’s environs”.

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State has however assured the public that discreet investigation is already in progress.
