The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba IGP, has approved the deployment of a new Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State. He is by name, Mr. Ogundare Dare Emmanuel.
Receiving the new Police Commissioner in Ekiti State on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Police Command formally notified the members of the public, most especially the good people of Ekiti State on the development, through a press release signed and sent to Treasure Newspaper by DSP Abutu Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the Ekiti State Police Command.
Abutu in his press release stated that, the new Commissioner of Police, who happens to be an indigene of Osun State, has assumed office as the new Commissioner of Police for the Ekiti State Command and taking over from his predecessor in office, CP Morenikeji Olusegun Adesina, who has gone on retirement.
Abutu revealed further that the new Ekiti State Commissioner of Police graduated from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State and proceeded to University of Lagos where he obtained his Master’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy. He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on the 3rd of March, 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police after which he was posted to the Imo State Police Command.
According to Abutu, he pointed out that the new CP has served in different Commands and Formations, first as the Commander, for the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ondo State Command. Thereafter, he was made the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Investment, Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Abutu added that he was the Commandant, Police Training school in Ikeja in Lagos State; the Area Commander in Daura, Katsina State;
the Area Commander in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State; the DC CID Bauchi State Police Command; DC CID Bayelsa State Police Command; DC CID Kebbi State Police Command; CP DFA Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Addressing the officers of the Ekiti State Police Command on his arrival on Wednesday, the new Commissioner of Police expressed his readiness to work in accordance with the vision and objectives of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, adding that he would prioritize professionalism, transparency, honesty, firmness and security of lives and properties of the good people of Ekiti State.
The new CP, Mr. Ogundare Dare Emmanuel promised that the Command, under his leadership, shall partner with relevant agencies and bodies to ensure that the State is secured and safe, also used the opportunity to seek the cooperation and partnership of the members of the public by supplying useful and timely information to the Police to enable the Command take necessary and proactive steps that would guarantee the security of the State.
