The Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspects for kidnap and armed robbery as one other who happened to be a Native Doctor also apprehended, as two were said to escape arrest as manhunt for them to be arrested begins.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command in Awka, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release made available to newsmen on Saturday, called for the need to recover one pump action, the victims vehicle and other incriminating items.
Explaining further, Tochukwu said the testimony of a rescued kidnap victim on the 22nd of November, 2024 by 6pm near Abagana Girls Secondary School was made possible by the State’s Joint Security forces comprising of the Police and Anambra Vigilantes when they busted a Shrine of a Native Doctor at Uru, Abagana.
While arresting the two suspects , arrested two suspects and launched a manhunt for two others, recovering one pump action, the victim’s vehicle, rope, horsewhip and other incriminating items.

The suspects include one Maduabuchukwu, Ikechukwu Okafor age 30yrs, and Nweze Chijindu aged 38yrs all natives of Abagana while One Supuluchukwu Nweze and Sunday Nwakanze aged 30yrs are presently at large.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was lured to the location by a phone call allegedly initiated by Sunday Nwakanze. The victim was abducted at gunpoint, dispossessed of valuables, and transported to a shrine where he was restrained using ropes and had his mouth sealed.
The two suspects confessed to the crime and are currently assisting the Police with information for possible arrest of other gang members.

The Command however remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Anambra State.
In another development, the operatives of the Joint Security Outfit in the State, while responding to a distress call along Enugu Ukwu road, were able to demobilize one notorious kidnapper from whom one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
The Anambra State Police Command as part of its efforts to rid the State of criminal tendencies was able to activate an onslaught operations against fleeing gand members.

Tochukwu revealed further that, the Joint Security Operatives comprising of the Police and Anambra Vigilantes on 22nd of November, 2024 by 10:30 am, neutralised a member of an armed robbery gang operating along Nkwo Enugu Ukwu Road and recovered one AK47 rifle, two magazines and five rounds of live ammunition.
Earlier before the time, the Joint Security Forces responded swiftly and acted on credible information about the planned activities of the notorious gang in the area. The Operatives engaged the criminals and subdued them in a gun duel, while some of the gang members escaped with bullet wounds.
Meanwhile, as a result of the Security Operatives been able to overwhelm the criminals, they have continued to maintain their dominance in the area, after which the security forces launched an onslaught of operations against the fleeing gang members.

On the development, the Anambra State Police Command urged the residents of the State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their area to the Police Control Room on the phone number – 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on 08039334002.
The Anambra State Police Command also advised the members of the public to download the ‘NPF Rescue Me App’, usable on Android and Apple iPhones, to make reports.
