AFUED Ondo Gets New Librarian

The Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo has gotten a new Librarian in an Acting capacity for the Institution.

The Acting Registrar of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, Mrs Olufisayo Fakorede in a memo signed by her and dated, the 5th of July, 2024, she officially announced the appointment of  Dr Mrs Adeola Fausat Afolabi as the new Librarian for the Institution on Thursday.

Fakorede in her memo, stated that the appointment of the new Librarian, in person of Dr Mrs Adeola Fausat Afolabi scaled through all the processes necessary following the completion of the tenure of her immediate past Acting University Librarian, Dr. Azino Akpokuriere.

Fakorede also revealed that Dr Afolabi will be in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive University Librarian by the Governing Council.  

Describing the new Acting Librarian, Fakorede stated that Dr Mrs Adeola Fausat Afolabi was born on 3rd of September, 1965 in Ola, Osun State. She had her Secondary School Education at the Baptist Grammar School, Ola, Osun State, where she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate in the year 1984.

She later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, where she bagged her B.Sc and Masters degrees in Psychology and Library and Information Studies respectively. 

In addition, she also attended the University  of Nigeria for her Phd in Information Literacy and Library Service Patronage.  

Her work experience started at the Ahmadu Bello Academy, Fararu, Sokoto State, in the year 1999, where she worked as a History Teacher, after she later taught Social Studies in Government Girls College, Bodinga, Sokoto State, between year 1999 and 2000.

Dr. Fausat Afolabi joined the service of the University in 2007 as Librarian 1, and served in various capacities in the University Library such as Head of Circulation Unit, 2007; Head of Cataloguing Unit, 2008 to 2010; Head of Acquisition Unit, 2008 to 2012 and Head of Readers` Services, 2023 to 2024. 

She also served in various Committees in the then Adeyemi College of Education which included the Ceremonial Committee, 2009 to 2013; Library Compliance team in 2016; Board of Directorate of Gender and Sustainable Development, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo; Servicom ACE, Ondo as well as Ethics Committee, COEASU, ACE, Ondo, 2023 till date. 

She is a member of many professional bodies which include the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

She has to her credit several books, articles and other scholarly works which are published in many reputable local and international journals  

Dr. Mrs. Adeola Fausat Afolabi is happily married to Dr. A. K. Afolabi and the marriage is blessed with children.
