The Management of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo in collaboration with the Institution’s Alumni Association has unveiled the activities for the 60th Jubilee Anniversary, seeking for a continuous improvement in the Country’s Educational Sector.
Unveiling the details of the activities on Monday at the main campus of the Institution in Ondo City, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr Samuel Akintunde revealed that on Wednesday, 22nd of May, 2024, the University Lecture will take place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium by 10am with Professor Tunde Babawale addressing the gathering. “On the same day, there will be an inter-departmental /faculty final debate by 4pm at the same venue.
“By Thursday, the 23rd of May, 2024, a medical outreach and students exhibitions will hold by 10am as well as a film show by 5pm at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium”.

Also, the Grand Finale for the Anniversary for the week long events will hold on Saturday, the 25th of May, 2024 with a Diamond Anniversary Lecture to be delivered by the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
In addition, “Awards to distinguished Alumni members, Alumni Scholarship / Empowerment for students as well as the grand reception for the anniversary will take place at the Lande Event Hall on same day”.
Other activities includes: Tuesday, 21st of May, 2024; the final of the Alumni Cup Football Competition for the female category will kick off by 3pm at the University’s Sports Complex and followed by the Commissioning of projects and naming of buildings and roads by 12noon on same day.
“On Friday, 24th of May, 2024; Dr Chris Emeruwa will be on ground to give a lecture by 10am at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium and by 2pm, a Jumat Service will hold at the University’s Mosque as well as the final of the Alumni Cup Football Competition for the male category by 3pm at the University’s Sports Complex.
On the final day, which is Sunday, the 26th of May, 2024; a Thanksgiving will hold at the University’s Christ Chapel by 10am in the morning.
Responding to questions during the press conference held on Monday, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Samuel Akintunde and the National President of the Institution’s Alumni Association, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade both emphasized the need for professionals in the Country’s Educational Sector to continue to show more interest in enhancing their vision for an improved reforms.
They praised the genuity of all the actors that contributed to the upgrade of the Institution from a College of Education into a University.
According to Oyebade, the Alumni National President, he acknowledged the upgrade of the Institution’s status to that of a University to God’s Hand at work, pointing out that, the dream and struggle for this feat started since the establishment of the Institution by the people of Ondo Kingdom, who opted for an Institution instead of other juicy projects at the time.
On his own part, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Samuel Akintunde appreciated and hailed the Federal Government, the Nigerian University Commission (NUC), the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR), his lovely wife, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and other well meaning Nigerians who have contributed one way or the other to the success and actualization of the long term dream.
The top management and the alumni members of the Institution after the press conference held on Monday embarked on a road show and town rally which was terminated at the palace of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Adesimbo Victor Kiladejo, where he commended them for their efforts ensuring that the Institution was upgraded into a University.
