AFUED VC Visits Security Heads In Ondo, Seeks Cooperation

The Vice-Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, has paid a courtesy visit to the office of heads of security agencies in Ondo City.

During the visit on Tuesday 19 August, 2025, the University Administrator visited the headquarters of Police Area Command, Yaba, Ondo as well as the Divisional Police Stations located at Enuowa and Funbi Fagun respectfully in the city.

Prof. Popoola equally visited the Ondo office of both the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) located in the community.

Speaking at the office of the Area Commander in Yaba, Ondo, the University Administrator said he came to express appreciation for various contributions made towards ensuring peace in the institution and Ondo City generally.

Prof. Popoola emphasized the importance of peace in society, saying it comes with planning and commitment, while calling on the police head to continue to sustain peace in the community.

His words: “I am here to say thank you for what you are doing for the University. We are trusting God that there will be more cooperation to work together as partners in progress. We appreciate your contributions and wish that this relationship is taken to a higher level” he remarked.

Responding, the Ondo Area Commander of the Nigerian Police, Mr. TY PYIKISON, an Assistant Commission of Police (ACP), thanked Prof. Popoola for the visit and gave assurance that his leadership, would not relent in ensuring protection of lives and property in the institution and Ondo City at large.

Also in their comments during the visit of the Vice-Chancellor to their various offices, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Enuowa and Funbi Fagun Police Divisions in Ondo City, Messers Komolafe Omoniyi and Maku Adeyemi both Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), expressed appreciation to the University Administrator for the courtesy visit and pledged to continue to partner with Management of the institution on matters concerning security issues in the University.

Similarly, while receiving Prof. Popoola in their areas of operations, the head of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Ondo City, Mr. Adebanji Adeoba and his counterpart at the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps in the town, Mrs. F.A Akinfolarin promised to strengthen the collaborations and partnership existing between their organisations and the University in ensuring sustenance of peace in the institution and Ondo City in general.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by staff of the University from the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Directorate of Information and Public Relations as well as the Security unit.
