Court Affirms Party’s Supremacy As Ekiti APC Kick Start Campaign With Press Conference

The Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has affirmed the supremacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State to present it’s own governorship candidate just as the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation has kicked start its campaign activities with a press conference on Wednesday.
Addressing newsmen at the press conference held at the conference hall of the Governors office in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital, the Director General of the Oyebanji Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi said, the Governor’s legal challenge has been rendered futile and ineffective by the Federal High Court judgement delivered on Wednesday.
This above position was emphasized during the official flag-off of the re-election campaign of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, where party leaders celebrated the outcome of a recent court ruling seen as a victory for internal party democracy and unity.
Fasuyi explained, that the essence of the campaign flag-off was to present the scorecard and verifiable achievements of Governor Oyebanji, popularly known as “Mr. Progress.”
He noted that the campaign would remain issue-based, focusing on performance and measurable outcomes rather than political attacks.
He highlighted significant strides recorded by the administration in security, describing Ekiti as one of the safest states in Nigeria, alongside notable progress in key sectors such as the economy, education, and agriculture.
Reinforcing the party’s stance on internal cohesion, APC leaders maintained that once the party has spoken and reached a consensus on its candidate, any aggrieved member resorting to litigation would be acting in vain, stressing that party supremacy must be respected for the collective good.
Fasuyi further disclosed that grassroots mobilization had already commenced across the 177 wards in the state, with a strategic target of securing no fewer than 500,000 votes in the forthcoming election.
He urged party faithful to engage voters constructively and avoid inflammatory language against political opponents.
During an interactive session, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, commended the administration’s achievements and reiterated the commitment of journalists in Ekiti State to fair, balanced, and responsible reportage, assuring that campaign activities would receive wide coverage.
In his remarks, Senator Babafemi Ojudu described the prevailing peace and security in the state as a testament to Governor Oyebanji’s proactive leadership.
He called on stakeholders to intensify voter sensitization efforts, expressing confidence that the party’s ambitious vote target is achievable.
The event was concluded on a note of optimism, with party leaders and stakeholders expressing confidence in a decisive victory for Governor Oyebanji at the polls.
