CP Orders Probe Into Hotel Stampede Killing Hotel Staff, 2 BOUESTI Students

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a thorough probe into the deadly incident at Emirate Hotel, Ikere-Ekiti, on April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., which led to the deaths of a hotel staff member and two students from Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).
SP Abutu Sunday, Public Relations Officer for Ekiti State Police Command, stated that preliminary investigation shows the students held a party at the hotel after their April 18, 2026 convocation, extending into the next day; two unidentified students fought, triggering a stampede as others fled, claiming the three lives.
The victims’ bodies have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
The CP expressed sympathies to the bereaved families and friends, urging calm while committing to a comprehensive investigation.
