Denied Venue, ADC Stages Indoor Mega Rally in Ekiti; Mark, Aregbesola Lead Charge

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Thursday staged a mega rally at its candidate’s campaign office, reaffirming its resolve to win Saturday’s election despite what it described as administrative roadblocks and intimidation.

The rally was originally scheduled for public venues but was relocated to the party secretariat after the ADC said it was denied access to both Pavilion and Eagle Hall. 

In attendance were ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark; National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; Emeritus Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu; Prof. Oseremeh Osunboh; National Organizing Secretary, Barr. Ndigo Chinedu; the National Women’s Leader; National Treasurer, Dr. Mani; Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai of Osun State; Engr. Jide Adeniji; Yemisi Afolabi; Barr. Akin Omole; Oyo State ADC Chairman, Afeez Adelowo; and the party’s senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates for Ekiti.

Party leaders said the decision to use a smaller, indoor venue was deliberate — a precaution to protect supporters amid what they described as a “hostile environment” under the current state government.

Addressing the crowd, Aregbesola said the modest turnout should not be mistaken for weakness. “Though the turnout may make the opposition think we have no supporters, it’s to ADC’s advantage,” he said, urging members to remain confident and patient ahead of the polls.

Senator Mark and other speakers tied the rally to public discontent over insecurity, economic hardship, and governance gaps. They called on Ekiti voters, particularly youths, to channel their frustration into votes on election day.

Prince Funso Ayeni, the party’s North Senatorial candidate, noted that the rally was organized within 24 hours and still drew attendees without major mobilization. “This is a spontaneous reflection of public fatigue with the status quo,” a party spokesperson added. 

Speakers repeatedly told attendees: “The right to a greater tomorrow is your vote,” and appealed to registered voters to back the ADC’s candidate, Dare Bejide.

Mark closed by urging Ekiti residents to turn out en masse for Bejide on Saturday, insisting that despite alleged harassment and obstacles, the ADC would emerge victorious. The party expressed confidence that disciplined voter turnout would deliver success at the polls.
